Catalytic carboxylation techniques with isotopically labelled CO2 (WP4)

Objectives:
- Optimize reaction conditions for systems developed in WP1 for catalytic carboxylation of alkyl halides with 13CO2
- Optimize reaction conditions for catalytic carboxylation of (un)saturated hydrocarbons with 13CO2
- Implementation of radiolabelling carboxylation techniques with 11CO2 and 14CO2
- Study the late-stage catalytic radiolabelling carboxylations with preselected pharmaceutical precursors
Expected Results:
- A catalytic system that allows for incorporating isotopically labelled 11CO2 , 13CO2 and 14CO2 into organic molecules
- A unique tool to understand the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion studies (ADME) of pharmaceutical candidates by radiolabelling with 11CO2 or 14CO2
Planned secondment(s):
- Industrial secondment to AZ to Dr. Elmore (3 months): Work on industrial 14CO2 labelling (with ESR12).
- AU to Prof. Skrydstrup (2 months): Work with two-chamber systems for the utilization of CO2 in carboxylation technologies and 11C-PET labelling (with ESR9).
Enrolment in Doctoral degree: ESR11 will have the daily work at ICIQ, but will be formally enrolled at URV, Spain
