Objectives:

  1. Develop catalytic processes for the efficient synthesis of fluorinated oxazolidinones from propargylamines, electrophilic fluorinating agents and atmospheric CO2 with special focus on non-precious metals.
  2. Acquire in depth mechanistic understanding on this transformation
  3. Design chiral Lewis acid catalysts for asymmetric reactions

Expected results:

  1. Reliable catalytic system for the synthesis of highly functionalized fluorinated oxazolidinones
  2. Kinetic profiles supported by DFT calculations unravelling the steps along the catalytic cycle
  3. Library of F-containing oxazolidinones with pharmaceutical potential

Planned secondments:

  • AU to Prof. Skrydstrup (3 months): Development of a compartmentalized reaction set up (with ESR2).
  • Industrial secondment to AZ, Dr. Johansson (3 months): Design of chiral catalyst for enantioselective CO2 incorporation.
